Acute Delayed Neurotoxicity Test

Acute delayed neurotoxicity is a neurological syndrome in which the body gradually develops limb weakness and spastic paralysis of upper motor neurons as the main manifestation within 1 to 2 weeks after the early appearance of inhibition of neuropathy target esterase (NTE) activity after a single large exposure to the test substance.

Our company offers a professional acute delayed neurotoxicity test service, which is clinically important to study the potential of acute delayed neurotoxicity of organophosphorus pesticides, chemicals, food, and other substances using experimental models.

Test Range

Veterinary drugs, pesticides, chemicals, fungicides, organic toxicants, solid waste, domestic waste leachate, hazardous waste, sewage, sludge, water quality, surfactants, etc.

About Acute Delayed Neurotoxicity Test Service

Test Method Veterinary drugs, pesticides, chemicals, fungicides, organic toxicants, solid waste, domestic waste leachate, hazardous waste, sewage, sludge, water quality, surfactants

Our company administers the test samples to the hens orally at one time at the highest possible dose. To ensure that enough animals survive for neurobiochemical and histopathological examination, cholinergic protective agents may be administered. We observe behavioral abnormalities, ataxic dyskinesia, and paralysis in the poisoned hens during the experiment.

At 24 h and 48 h post-contamination, we randomly select animals in each group for biochemical examinations, particularly for the determination of NTE, and at 21 days post-contamination, we execute the remaining hens and took neural tissue for histopathological examination.

Sample Preparation

Our company gives samples to experimental animals by transfixing them orally. The sample needs to be prepared as a solution. We mainly use aqueous solutions, suspensions or oil solutions.

We will be fully aware of the toxicity of the solvent. The chosen solvent does not react chemically with the sample and does not interfere with its absorption.

Test Animals

We use healthy first-adult hens with no gait abnormalities.

Test Observations

Clinical observation and examination, weight recording, biochemical examination and histopathological examination of neural tissues (delayed brain, cerebral bridge, cerebellum and cerebral cortex, the cervical segment of the spinal cord, middle thoracic segment, lumbosacral junction, sciatic nerve, etc.).

Acute Delayed Neurotoxicity Test Report

The test report provided by Our company includes at least the following:

  1. Test name, test start and end dates, etc.
  2. Test summary.
  3. Information on sample name, active ingredients, physical and chemical properties, preparation method, etc.
  4. Detailed information on test animals and feeding environment.
  5. The principle or basis for choosing the dose, the dose and group, the way of grouping animals and the number of animals in each group.
  6. Test conditions and methods, including main instruments and equipment, route of poisoning, poisoning protocol, test period, observation indexes, etc.
  7. Test results, including clinical signs of poisoning, body weight, changes in various indexes, gross anatomical and histopathological changes, statistical processing methods of results, etc.
  8. Test conclusion: compare the sample group with the positive control group and negative control group, and conduct statistical analysis to confirm whether the samples have delayed neurotoxic effects.
  9. Description of the original record keeping.
